Why this recipe works

I love using frozen mango to make popsicles. It’s naturally sweet and blends into a creamy texture that’s perfect for a refreshing, healthy popsicle. It’s why I also have recipes for these easy mango popsicles and these mango Tajín popsicles.

But I also love mango with cherries. Cherries have a tartness that balances the sweetness of mangoes really well. So I knew they’d be great together in a frozen treat. I add plain, unsweetened yogurt for extra creaminess, a bit of honey just to bring out the sweetness and a touch of lime juice to keep everything balanced.

You can also check out the FAQ below to see how easy it is to make these cherry mango popsicles dairy-free, vegan and Paleo friendly.

What you need

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup plain, unsweetened yogurt – This adds a creaminess without adding extra sweetness.
  • 2/3 cup frozen mango – No need to thaw.
  • 1/3 cup frozen cherries – No need to thaw these either!
  • 1 tablespoon – honey or pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt

Equipment:

  • popsicle molds – <– This is the set of molds that I use. If you use a different set, you might get more or less than 6 popsicles depending on their size.
  • A blender
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

How to make Mango Cherry Popsicles

Step 1: Add the yogurt to the blender. Then add the mango, cherries, honey, lime juice and salt. Blend until smooth.

If the mixture is too thick to fully blend, try one of the following tricks:

  1. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides of the blender jar, making sure to move the mixture around the blades.
  2. Pulse the motor instead of just letting it run. This can help loosen up the mixture.
  3. Add water, 1-2 tablespoons at a time, blending after each addition to see if it’s enough to smooth out the mixture. You don’t want to add too much or the popsicles will be too icy.

Step 2: Pour the mixture into the popsicles molds. If necessary, use a spoon or chopstick to stir the mixture in each mold to get rid of any air pockets. You can also gently shake the molds side to side to make sure the mixture creates an even layer at the top.

Step 3: Freeze for at least 4 hours. To unmold, it might be necessary to run the molds under hot water for 5-10 seconds to loosen them.
