Why this recipe works
When it’s really hot out, you need a cold drink to cool you down. And sometimes lemonade, bubbly water or iced tea just doesn’t cut it. That’s why I like making frozen mocktails with orange juice, lime juice and various frozen fruits. They’re like margaritas without the booze!
So I’ve made a Frozen Pineapple Mocktail and a Frozen Strawberry Mocktail. But cherries are one of my favorite fruits so I had to finally make a Frozen Cherry Mocktail. They’re just a little sweet and a little tart, which is the perfect balance for a summer drink.
And by using whole cherries instead of just cherry juice, you’re also getting all their fiber as well as their other nutrients, such as vitamin C and potassium. Plus whole cherries create a thicker, slushy, frosty texture. And the orange and lime juice add more flavor so the drink isn’t one dimensional.
It takes just a few minutes to make and is so easy to double, triple or even quadruple the recipe. You’ll want to make this frozen mocktail all summer long!

What you need
Ingredients for 1 drink:
- 1/2 cup cold water, plus more as necessary
- 1/4 cup orange juice (from about 1/2 a large orange)
- 4 teaspoons lime juice (from 1-2 limes), plus slices for garnish (optional)
- 1 cup frozen cherries (not thawed)
- pinch of fine sea salt (optional – helps enhance the flavors)
Equipment:
- a blender
- measuring spoons
- measuring cups
- a citrus juicer (optional, but it’s amazingly helpful for juicing citrus like lemons and limes)
- a rocks glass
How to make this Frozen Cherry Mocktail
- Add the ingredients in the order listed to the blender. Then blend until completely combined and somewhat smooth. If your blender has a pulse option, start with that a few times, then use the regular blending option for 1-2 minutes. If the mixture gets jammed, add more water a tablespoon at a time to help loosen it up. Pour into a glass, garnish with a lime slice, if using, and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Don’t use other fruits besides cherries. Each fruit is a different size (meaning you’ll need different amounts of each) and has different levels of sweetness (meaning you’ll need different amounts of orange and lime juice). See the links below for my frozen pineapple and frozen strawberry mocktails.
You can freeze the mixture in an airtight container for up to 3 months. You’ll probably have to blend it again to loosen it up and make it pourable. You might need to add cold water to help it blend.
