- 1 medium apple (use your favorite variety), cored and chopped
- ⅓ cup unsweetened plain yogurt (dairy-free, vegan or Paleo, if necessary)
- 1 scoop unflavored protein powder (dairy-free, vegan or Paleo, if necessary)
- small handful of ice cubes see notes
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (optional)
- heaping ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla
- pinch nutmeg
- pinch cardamom
- pinch fine sea salt
If you only have vanilla yogurt or vanilla protein powder, omit the vanilla extract.
If your blender can't handle blending a chopped apple, grate the apple instead. Use the large holes on a box grater or the shredding disc on a food processor.
I know "small handful of ice cubes" isn't an exact amount but it's hard to say as there are so many different kinds of ice cube trays. Just start with a few and blend it up. You can always add more if you want it thicker or colder. But if you start with too many it can become frothy and watery.
